Rock & Gem Clubs Directory

Olympic Rocks began as a directory of the rockhounding clubs of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. That community is still the heart of Field & Stone.

Banded agate

Clubs are how rockhounding is really learned — field trips, shows, shop access and people who know the ground. Start with the Olympic Peninsula clubs, then find your regional federation below.

Almost every U.S. rock & gem club belongs to one of seven regional federations under the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). Find your region, then its local clubs:

Pacific NorthwestNorthwest Federation (NFMS)
California & NevadaCalifornia Federation (CFMS)
Rocky Mountains & PlainsRocky Mountain Federation (RMFMS)

South Central (TX, OK, AR, LA…)South Central Federation (SCFMS)

How to join a club

Most clubs welcome beginners: pay a small annual membership, attend a monthly meeting, and you gain access to field trips, lapidary equipment, shows and a network of experienced collectors. Many run junior programs and annual public gem & mineral shows.
